Shut Up & Dance were formed at the birth of Rave. Their single 'Hooligan 69' was a defining moment in British music. As a record label, they released classics by underground artists from the London Hackney area, such as Ade with 'Free The Soul', 'Take It Easy' by Cedric Winkleburger, 'Single Minded People' by Nicolette, 'Slaves' by Rum and Black and many more. (Not forgetting 'The Ragga Twins' of course!)

Their sound and stance has been a big influence on my music. As with most innovators, they never got the full recognition they deserved. I highly recommend you seek out their records past and present.

As a group Shut Up & Dance, alias Smiley & P.J. still release records and can be found HERE.
